Eclipse 36: evoluzione della specie

Evolution or involution?
I own five Eclipse 36 honing guide (the fifth in the next post).
The old ones are definitely better manufactured, but all of them have the same sloppy play between the two jaws. The only one with no play between the jaws is the blue one, because, as you can see, I hammer pinned the casting around the two rods.
An interesting note is that older one has the V notches that hold the chisels, inverted upside-down than the later models, as in the original patent.

Quelle più vecchie sono decisamente costruite meglio, ma tutte hanno lo stesso gioco tra le due ganasce. L'unica senza gioco tra le ganasce è quella blu, perchè, come potete vedere, ho martellato il corpo attorno ai due alberi.
Una nota interessante è che quella più vecchia ha le tacche a V che serrano gli scalpelli, che sono invertite verticalmente rispetto ai modelli successivi, come nel brevetto originale.
